1. The first time trial did a Motor bike almost hit some cyclists because a road was not blocked off properly ?

2. Cooke was given a time penalty even though the person involved came out and said he had nothing to do with it ?

3. Another motor bike (An official bike) almost got some riders by accident

and last but not least

4. An offical motor bike leads a chasing bunch the wrong way? but cooke still won the stage.

Does this stuff happen in all events like this.... and they just get shown more because it is a melbourne event... or is it just bad luck ?

Im surprised they even pros back to do it.....

They're just keeping up the tradition of Australian sporting authorities.

That sent a shiver down my spine. You never forget the feeling when you
realise turning the handlebars is having no effect on where you are going.

His case was even more drastic: the steerer snapped. Isn't carbon a
wonderful thing.

nice..!! poor [censored].... the thing is would he claim on his warranty or go back to the mechanic and see if he could fit the handle bar in certain orifices not made for handle bars ???? I know what I would feel like doing.... once I could move my arm again

I'm sus on the report that the steerer snapped. Looking at this pic;

The steerer to me looks intact and straight. I'm thinkin' the stem has come off, though it could also look like it has broken at the top of the steerer tube. Either way, not fun.🙁

It looks like that there, but maybe it just didn't snap off. I'm just
going on what Jeff Jones of cyclingnews.com posted to a discussion about
it elsewhere; he seemed pretty certain it was the steerer.

Either way, it was probably plastic...

Have another look. The retainer is still bolted through the stem. You
can see the pointy bit of the star fangled nut and the bottom of the
tensioning bolt sticking out. If the stem had simply come off, the bolts
would have had to have been loose *and* the retaining/tensioning plate
would have had to have fallen off.

The steerer snapped. <ouch!>

How does something like that happen, given the road quality looks pretty good (what you can see in the photo).
