Hennessy Hammocks - interesting site

Of course, they're especially useful to those who've thrown off their
ingrained, ill-held prejudices about such pieces of kit, have an open
mind and are interested in learning more ;-)

ingrained, ill-held prejudices about such pieces of kit, have an open
mind and are interested in learning more ;-)

They're excellent, and I'd be very tempted in the hammock myself
were it not for just one slight problem. I very rarely seem to
want to camp anywhere where I'm likely to find conveniently
placed trees.

I agree it will take a bit of getting used to, but no more so than
looking for a flat pitch for a tent. I was out this weekend and found
a superb pitch... wonderful spot to stop, well, for a hammock anyway,
a 45deg bleedin slope in a tent, no thank you! (but I was really sorry
that I couldn't stop there, it was wonderful :-)

I agree with you in the first instance Fran, but reckon that it'll not
take long to change route planning to accomodate different needs,
looking for a flat, clear site site to pitch a tent is in-grained in
us, come as second nature.

If push comes to real shove, it'll probably mean that the hammock is
something that's added to the collection, most of us have different
tents for different circumstances. If you're, for argument's sake,
wanting to basha-up on the Cairngorm plateau then you'd not be taking
a hammock, neither would you be taking a wazzing great frame tent
<ouch!>

I'm itching to try one ;-) a Hennessy that is!

The more obvious (for a standard hammock, not a Henn) is... a quick
flip and inside becomes out and crumbs are suitably ejected, but I
know my luck: I'll end up with hair full of crumbs!

You haven't got children I take it? Life with younglings is
seldom so simple. Though, I take your point about simply
inverting the thing... what I was actually thinking about was
<deep breath> laundering it <breathes out> to get rid of the
inevitable squashed banana, dead spider or equivalent.

What I'd really like of course is a whole collection of the
things. Maybe I'll get hammocks (ordinary ones, mind) for the
younglings when I get round to finally sorting the house out.
