  1. I just purchased an Easton carbon lo-rise MonkeyLite XC bar. It is 26"
(660mm) in lenth. I am 6'1" (186cm) tall, normal built. I have a Specialized Enduro bike. I am an
enduro, aggesive XC, all mounain rider; not a racer. What should be the length of my
handlebar for my style of riding and my body type. I would really appreciate your comments.

    Thanks,

    Robert

    1081.2mm +/- 0.5mm

Seriously, you've just bought a bar and now you're asking what bar to buy (?)

The ideal bar length is usually calculated as approximately one inch longer than you have just cut
    your bars down to.

    Steve.

  4. The bar should be as wide as your shoulders .If its to narrow you will not breathe good.If its 26"
try it some people like wider bars .Im 6'1" 220 my bar is about 24" inches wide. I was thinking of
getting the same bar you bought .Im running a flat bar for now with a slight rise in the stem. Good
luck .Remember if you trim it down do ti in small increments like a 1/2 inch each side .I had one
bar that was 221/2 " wide made the bike had to control on down hill.

Install it at full length and see how you like it. Then try it narrower by moving the grips and
controls inward and see how you like it. Play around with different lengths this way until you find
what you like best. Then cut.

    D'oh! Excuse my idiocy.

Bar width is very much a personal thing, although it's most closely related to shoulder width rather
than anything else. The best advice would be to try it out at it's current width and then shuffle
things in a 1/2" at a time. Ride a couple of times with the excess bar at the ends, and if you're
convinced, trim it down. Repeat as necessary.

Remember, it's easy to take bar off, but it's darned difficult to put it back on 🙂

Why not? Sounds like you're ready.

Re the bar, if it was a factory bar & not modified by a prior owner, it's probably just fine and
dandy like it is for a dude your size.

Once a week, cut it down at 1/4 in intervals (off each end). Stop when you don't like it anymore. Go
buy a new bar, and cut it to the previous weeks length.

Buy another one just like the one you have, then start trimming the installed bars a half-inch at a
time - and live with each trim for awhile.

Eventually, you'll get the the point where it feels too narrow. Then just install the spare and cut
    it to the right size....

Don't screw with it. I know technically you can cut carbon bars, but I never would. It would be easy
to fray the ends or start a tiny facture if not careful. Just slap them on and ride, man!

A buddy chopped his down with a fine hacksaw. Worked fine and he's had no problems at all. Of
course, he's a precision die and tool maker so he knows what he's doing, much more than I
    would have.
