I suspect that there are racers in the country. I recall that when I flew into Casablanca in 1988, I saw racing cyclists on the road training as we made our final landing approach. And if there are racing cyclists in Afghanistan..........

They are trying to organize a new classic from Basra to Baghdad. The way the roads are right now it will be as epic as 1919 Paris - Roubaix.
No muslim country will ever produce a decent cyclist until they learn not to blow up.
