  1. I just returned home to Wisconsin, from Singapore. The Shangri-La
Hotel I stayed at had a wonderful breakfast buffet where I discovered
(or re-discovered) a tasty sweet sausage. You would think that I could
find it here in Wisconsin...nope, not yet.

Can you help me identify it? I think I had this type of sausage before
    in Europe.

    Allow me to describe.

Red snooth, maybe even shiney skin, about 8 inches, diameter of a
quarter. The meat has the texture of a hot dog (smooth). And it's
very sweet. I don't think it was made from chicken, because I had
some of those on my plate too.

I wish I would have asked...

Thanks for you help in advance.

Lop cheong? It's reddish and is like a hot dog. Do a google and see if
    that's what you're referring to.

Chinese sausages are sweet, and red, but not that big and are a
pretty coarse grind - usually made with pork (and sometimes pork +
    liver).

Maybe somebody in alt.food.asian could identify it for you if you
    don't have any luck here.

Practice safe eating. Always use condiments.

  6. No but thanks...the outside skin was smooth and tight...more like the
color of a lobster right out of the steamer.

Yeah, I knew this post would get a few chuckles...could avoid it
    though,

Maybe I'll search for some intrernational breakfast menus.

    Thanks again,

  7. I went here an did not find it...but cool site for types of sausages

    Was it served for breakfast?

Another thought I had is that fish sausage is somewhat popular in
Singapore, too. And that would explain the fine grind.
