Help Needed - Buying first Road bike

I don't know about those bikes, but don't forget to hold back a few hundred bucks for incidentals--water bottles/cages, seat pack, tools, spare tubes/patch kit, jersey, shorts, gloves, HELMET, lights if you ride at night or in inclement weather, jacket, leg warmers, etc., etc...

Thanks for the advise I have heard that from a few people and have a few of the items from off road and running. I am really having a hard time getting feed back on theses bikes. Any comments on these bikes or direction towards others in their class would be greatly appreciated

Test ride and fit are the most important things. Much of the rest of the differences between bikes are based on purpose or opinion. Since you've stated the purpose is for road cycling, that leaves opinion. In that price range, unless you get a lemon (rare), you're going to get a serviceable bike with decent components.

Buying your first road bike is very confusing with all the bikes to choose from. It is your first bike so save some money and make sure you enjoy riding. Then you can upgrade your ride based on your wants and needs. If you are riding where there are a lot of hills make sure you get a bike with a compact crank and not a three ring crank. You can always change the cassette if you find it to hard or to easy. Don't get to hung up on what others think select price range and you pick the bike that feels the best when you ride it. Test ride some bikes. Buy the one that fits best, feels best on the road, looks best, and best fits your budget. If none are comfortable, test ride more and repeat.

Definitely go & take them for a ride. Personally, I would steer away from the giant & look closely at the cannondale. Have you looked at any Scott bikes?
