  1. I'm hoping someone might be able to help me. I recently purchased a Cannondale from ebay for about
$100.00. I received the bike today! I'm impressed by how light the frame is - much lighter than my
    other road bike.

My problem is that I only know that its a cannondale. How can I identify what model & year it is? I
suppose its not too important, but it would be nice to know. Can anyone point me in the right
direction? If it helps, the Serial number is 54021787121.

    Thanks, Doug

Can you point us to a picture? How about the eBay item number where we can see a pix?

What lettering is on the frame. Look on the seat stays for letters like 'CAAD3' or 'CAAD4' or ' 2.8
' . Look at the rear dropouts. Where does the seat stay connect to the dropout? Right at the end, or
about an inch towards the seat tube? Threaded or threadless fork? John Rees

  3. Hi, Doug, you might want to call Cannondale at 1-800-245-3872. (1-800-bikeusa)

    Lewis.

  4. Thanks for the responses. I sent Cannondale an email, nad they responded. they told be that based on
the serial number, its a 54cm frame built on february 17, 1987. so that's it. They also sent the
    1987 catalog, so based on that I now know it's a 1987 SR500.

    Thanks again, Doug

That is great service. That's why we need companies like Cannondale to stay around. I've also
received quick responses from Specialized as well.

I agree. I was surprised to see a response so quickly. Given that the bike appears to in such nice
shape, I'd say their product is very good as well.
