"certainly" ? They do offer some protection. Interestingly one of the accidents that I'd worry about
is where you end up landing on your ass, and then flipping backwards (almost like the TdF accident 3
days ago) . I've done this on snow, and had a headache despite the snow being thick. An extra two
inches of softer decelleration would be pretty useful in this case.

Interesting that they're allowed to unfasten the chin straps while climbing, like that makes one
degree of difference. Sponsors need to check their billboard allocation. Little
helmet-strip-width logos all over the 'lids!

That's the thing about foam hats. You only have to believe they work, because all the really get
tested to "protect" you from is about a six-foot fall from a standstill. The rest is a mix of
fashion and paranoia.
