It's perfectly feasible to be a Conservative cyclist. I'm one.

It's even more feasible to be an anti-war Conservative. I'm one.

I don't know what it was like where you are but round here in the
pre-war phase it was not all cosy consensus and rapturous support for
the party line supporting Blair.

Us Tories place much value in the ideas of national sovereignty and
the self determination of nations. You don't just go round invading
and killing unless you are under direct threat. There was no
demonstrable threat before the invasion and time has shown that there
never was.

The Westminster Tories made a grave mistake in supporting Labour on
this one. It was not universally popular in the party. It was
universally unpopular with the country.

And I don't buy any of the Labour line pointing out that Saddam wasn't
a very nice chap so it's all OK. It isn't. We've effectively chucked
international law to the wind and committed the world to a
might-is-right philosophy.

I never imagined I'd see the UK leading the invasions of three
countries (Kosovo, Afghanistan, Iraq) in wars of aggression without
international support or UN sanction.

Speaking from somewhere near the diametrically opposite end of the
political spectrum, well said that man. That is _precisely_ why it was
wrong to go to war without a 'new' UN resolution.
