Helmet info

This is not an excuse to start the thread again....

The CTC is probably a pretty good place to ask, since they have to stay on top of the whole thing
for legal, insurance and campaigning reasons.

This months (July2003) Cycling World has a report entitled Bicycle Helmets and Accident Involvement.

This provides an analysis from a number of sources and can be summarised thus: head injury reduction
through wearing a helmet = 28% increase in accident involvement through wearing a helmet = 44%
i.e. the increase in accident likelyhood outways the injury reduction.

I don't suppose anyone may have factored in the increased likelyhood of someone who takes the
care to wear a helmet taking the care to report the accident <puts on flameproof helmet and dives
for cover>.
