  1. I'm reading Atkins book and though i'm not close to finishing it but he
does make a lot of sense with what he says about carbs. I was wondering
since I only have about 10-12 pounds to lose would I benefit if I just
eliminated the refined carbs and ate a good assortment of various
different low-med GI vegetables and legumes, would I be able to stop the
"carb cravings" or is that not enough to eliminate them?

It varies from person to person, so I say just try it and see. Eliminating
refined carbs is a good thing for everyone, imo, not just people who want
to lose weight. No one needs to eat junk food, and that's where most
    people get their refined carbs.

Hi Overman, welcome to the group! Hard for me to say since I've been following
the Atkins plan. Some people make up their own plans and do okay, though. You
can try it and see how it goes. You might want, however, to do Induction for a
couple of weeks to break the carb cravings and develop new habits and THEN try
adding things back until you start craving again.

What Luna said is good. All I'll add is that you are going to benefit.

Nah, I have alot to lose. But yeah, I see it often that people say they just
need to lose that 10-12 pounds. I get jealous sometimes. But then I rethink it,
and say what the hell. They may not be telling the truth. Or they got their
weight to lose, I got mine.

Once I lose all my weight, I will feel so good. That I reached a goal. 🙂

Exactly. Ok, I have 10 or so portions of 10 - 12 pounds I'd like to
lose, but it's one step at a time.

    Ha ha ha.

If I'd only had 12 lbs to loose, I wouldn't have been desperate enough to
read the Atkins book in the first place.

    Ha ha ha, same here.

Although I wish I found the Atkins book earlier, then I wouldn't have put on the
weight that pushes me to discover Atkins.
