  1. So when I ride. Nothing else is in my mind except the following.

    Keep going.
Make it up the hill faster.
You have to go up this little bridge faster.

All the bills, gas prices, work all the BS seems to just go away. I love it and I just want to go back to it. Even when I am at work I just think about the serenity of it. Now all of you don't know me so I will say this. I am an ahole in my opinion. I know people don't actively seek me out. But being on the bicycle seems to take me back to that little kid, riding that Huffy Vortex back in ElPaso TX. I'm just a little too happy.

So my point here. 1 I am just so happy to be riding short of the idiots that are driving their cars like the 16 yo that has never driven b4. 2 How many of you does Bicycling take you back, or is it just a thing that goes away after awhile?

Those would be just about right for what you've got.

Now I know you mean those are right, so sorry if this comes out wrong. Is there something else that you would recommend?

  3. Hey Mods, what happened to my other post to the Ride for Roswell? It was legit and everything.

Not really. Specialized also makes a 26" slick ( I had those on a campus bike, and they held up well to the glass and other sharp, threatening road debris around the University of Arizona), and so does WTB. You could check out the prices on the Specialized tire (the Fatboy) and the WTB and then just choose the least expensive one. You really can't go wrong.

    Nope.

I read somewhere (Bill Strickland, I believe, maybe in Tour de Lance) that research has shown cycling has many of the same benefits that meditation does.

    EDIT-

Sadly, no hard research, but some opinions on the matter:

    practicalcyclist.blogspot.comcycling and meditation.html

    renaissancebicycles.comcycling meditation

My life is divided up in clumps of memories. Many of the best clumps the memory's... the ones with the brightest and most vivid colored images are centered around a new bicycle. When I think of my childhood often I remember the summer when I was eight when I got my green Schwinn Stingray. It was a great summer.... I loved that bicycle.

Every-time I ride my bicycle.... it takes me back [in a way] to that summer when I was eight... not in memory but in the same feeling. I still enjoy cycling in the same way, and as much as, I did when I was eight.

Over the past weekend I injured myself... in a non-cycling event. So while on yesterdays twenty mile ride I also nursed a pulled groin muscle and some lower back pain... that kept me uncomfortable on the saddle. The sky was dark with rain clouds, strong wind gusts kept me focused and threatened a cold downpour at any minute. I really enjoyed the ride.

I am an old man... and for me that feeling has never gone away

  7. Ok I need some advise please. I set up an appointment for my doctor but here is why and Im hoping someone will tell me if they had this.

Everytime I go riding. I cant even get more then 1000 yards from the house and I will get this harsh headache behind my left eye that moves up to the top left of the head. Now as I continue to ride over 6 miles the headache lessens but it is still there. Just not that bad as it was when it first starts. Has anyone had this happen? Oh also I got the Michelin Wild Run'r tires for my bike. now i cant wait till they get here.

  8. I've not had any symptoms like that, but even if I'd had I wouldn't advise anything other than going to the doctor. Be careful asking medical questions or advice on the internet. We're just anonymous strangers to you.

Oh I know. That is why I no matter what I am going to the doctor. I was just hoping that someone else on here maybe had this issue as well.

  10. I think I figured out the whole headache thing, It looks like I was trying to do way too much way to hard, and not watching my breathing. So here is what I did. I did not have the headache this morning so I went out for a nice little 5 mile ride just to see.. Well i took it nice and easy for the first 1/2 mile. Only 10 to 12 MPH. After the 1st 1/2 mile I kicked it up to 13 to 14. I then kept it like that for the next 1/2 mile. After that I just went to my normal and no headache at all. Unfortunatlly I could only go 4 miles due to a flat. But no headache at all.

Now that I think I have that all figured out I wanted to know if anyone on here uses Mr Tuffy tire liners? And if so what are your thoughts on them?

You'd get an additional squirt of speed if you switch the MTB tires for slicks. Not only will you get more speed (there's a significant rolling resistance difference between slicks and nobbies), you'll get a better ride and better traction on pavement.
Yea, I was already looking at road tires. I will wait on the slicks for when I get a real road bike. You guys on this site have been great and I thank you for all your advice.

I asked a aimless upgrade question on this site and not one response... Lol just saying.... Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2
