  1. Here in Toronto we've been getting HOT weather for the last week. It got up
to 28C... April 19 the hottest on record. . Global warming .... na.

Anyway, been riding for last month every second day. in the last week I
went 2 day break 3 days and yesterday i rode 2 hrs, came home ate home made
sausage and pirogi. I felt so good I hit the trails for another 11/2 hrs.
    🙂

    enough rambling.
Question: My front disk break *hayes hydro* has developed a squeek, not at
all speeds and not in all gears. it just comes and goes. I find that if I
apply a little pressure to the front break it goes away. I have cleaned
all that can with out taking the hydro apart. Is there anything else I can
try? The last step would be going to the LBS.

    Giant VT2. beyond words. 😉

I've got hope brakes and the best way to know they're working is if they're
    squealing... ;o)
Generally it's one of a few things...
    1. The pistons aren't retracting back into the housing properly
    2. You've got some worn pads or there's something "attached" to them (grit
    etc)
    3. Something's up with your disk?

Anyway, it's degrees of pain really, is it something you can live with?

If you can't then go through this:

    1. Pull the brake on during a long descent and see if you can wear past any
    contamination...
    2. Check the disk for burred edges - I've had this and you get a "ting"
noise on rotation. bit of filing and all's sorted.
    3. Change the pads - and re-bleed the brake.
    4. Feck around with the brake itself to make the piston actuate smoothly
(personally I'd be taking it to a bike shop at this point).

Hope (no pun intended) this helps.

  5. I drew this up for you all 🙂 These are my regular rides through the week.
The 80K one is a weekend or a just b/c run. The PDF is 4MB so it may take a
bit to load up. If any one has questions please ask 🙂

Well, if getting rid of the squeak is your main concern, putting some
oil on the brake disk should do the trick :-)
