in the most annoying place and having to walk 2k in SPDs to a train
station. 🙂

Did you give anyone your contact details? The ATSB are always interested in eye witness reports to aircraft accidents. Might prevent a similar crash in the future. They have a 1800 number on their website ....

i tried to, but when the top brass arrived, they didn't seem interested in me any more. i think the accident was caused by the cover of the helipad deteriorating. i could see where the skid of the helicopter had gone through it. i think it is pretty old & wooden (or plywood). this causued it to tip over and the rotor blade hit the railing of the connecting bridge.

i'm finding it a bit hard to concentrate at work today!

Still, give the police a call - they _will_ want eyewitnesses. A report
into this kind of thing will take all sorts of points-of-view into account.

I know how you feel. Even if you weren't directly involved, even seeing
such a thing can really shake you up for some time. Tell your boss you're
going out for a walk around just to clear your head, it will help.

I was once on my way into work (driving) when a petrol tanker coming the
other way skidded and came along my side of the road sideways towards me
and the van in the lane next to me. It stopped before it reached me, but
collided with the van. The driver was slightly concussed with a minor cut
to the head.

So there were no major injuries and little threat to my safety, but seeing
a tanker full of highly flammable liquid skidding towards you is very
worrying. When I got to work I sat there quietly shaking for quite a while.

it happened at 8:40. for some reason i looked at my watch and noted the time when it happened. after the helicopter crashed, there was an eerie minute (seemed like that) when nothing seemed to happen. i ran up to the gate protecting the pad. i looked around for someone else, but there didn't seem to be anyone around.
