I just finished Heft on Wheels by Mike Magnusen. Great book! It has made me really think about the condition I am in. I actually dusted off the Trek out in the garage and will be hitting the pedals this weekend. I've been a Heft on the couch way too long.

Anyone else read it? If so, any thoughts?
Not Yet,
But is sounds like me! So I ordered a copy to read (between work and rides!)
I read it and really enjoyed it. It also got me out there. I've done 700 plus miles on my new bike since mid-June and I'll do a chairty ride this week end across Massachusetts.

Read it and loved it. I actually have done my own life turn-around over the last couple years (lost 35 lbs on the bike last year), but it was a great read. It was actually one of Magnusen's articles in Bicycling magazine (the one about being hit by a truck, ironically) that made me want to get out and ride more this year.
I was considering this book a while back - good to hear so many positive reviews. I'll have to pick up a copy. Not to turn this into a weight loss thread, but I've also dropped about 50 lbs. in 10 months since changing my eating habits and riding both mtb (where I started) and road (as of March)...
Yes, I read it. I already started my turn around - biked 1,850 miles so far this year and I'm down 30lbs from a year ago. The book helped me renew my enthusiam for riding and getting healthy. It was interesting reading about his insights of where he was and what he used to think was fun compared to after his life change and what is fun to him now. I wish he had given more details about the equipment he used, being a heavy rider, what stood up the the weight and hard roads and what didn't. I guess he could get in trouble from manufacturers if he wrote bad about something though - at least he could have mentioned the good stuff. All I know is he had a Trek 5200 and a Litespeed and the Trek got toasted when he hit the truck.
There is an article by him in Bicycling Mag. riding a mtb at a 24 hour endurance race. I haven't sat down and read it all the way through yet however. I think it was in an issue a month ago or so.

Find him via email . . . he will respond as I've emailed him once and got a response back.
