Who cares - it's just a field sprint. Field sprints are gay. Does anybody care that one guy can finish 2 feet ahead of another guy who finishes 1 foot ahead of the third guy, etc. etc.
Let me know when we have the next Grand Tour winner (i.e. Danielson).

Thanks,

A 21 year old kid winning a stage and being in 4th on GC at l' Avenir says a lot more to me than all the promises about Danielson at 27. I'm not saying Danielson won't win mountain stages, but GC and a GT? Bil C

You know, this reminds me of an old Dave Berg strip from Mad magazine where this kid points at guy after guy calling them each a [censored]. Finally the girl next to him says. "I though a [censored] was...well, what is a [censored]?". the downcast kid replies, "Anybody that doesn't like what I like is a [censored]." Except in your case you appear not to be very successful at field sprints.

Yeah, me Lance, Greg LeMond, Miguel Indurain, Bernard Hinault...we all suck at field sprints.
What Davis Phinney and those sprinter-types do in cycling is a sideshow. Why do you think Jonas Carney retired as USPRO crit champion?
Yeah, me Lance, Greg LeMond, Miguel Indurain, Bernard Hinault...we all suck at field sprints.
Dumbass,
With the exception of you and LANCE all of those guys had some degree of success in field sprints, overshadowed by their great accomplishments as GC riders.
When LANCE won Worlds in 1993, who took the field sprint ahead of guys like Ludwig, Museeuw, and Fondriest?
Yeah, me Lance, Greg LeMond, Miguel Indurain, Bernard Hinault...we all suck at field sprints.

Last time I spoke with Jonas, he was talking about how he felt doping was rife in the US peloton, much worse than it was when I was racing.
As for sprinting/field sprints, you're ignoring the entertainment aspect of the sport. Winning solo is badass, but winning a field sprint will get you the chicks.
Not anymore impressive than the American 20 year old who won the prologue TT at the '88 baby Giro. He never went anywhere. $.25 if you can name him.
Roy also was impressive when he was young. So was Evanshine. Tyler F is not the next big thing. He'll be OUT of the sport in 5 years. Bank on it. \

Off the top of my head, I want to say James Urbonas.
Thanks Carl, I'm not going looking. Given a choice between your opinion and CritPukes, it's a joke. Don't you feel any urge to hide who you are so that that you can inflate what you've done, here? Oh yeah, you don't need to fake it. Bill C

What the hell are you thinking, Carl? Going with primary source material from a real Pro, make it up like CP does. Oh yeah, you don't need to. Bill C

dumbass,
the guy's career so far has been like a text book on how to become a protour rider. he's been good at every level, but not so insanely good that you waiting for him to implode doc gooden style (or vdb style).
maybe he'll burn out mentally, but he knows how to do something a lot of decent riders don't, which is how to cross the line first. so even if he's not going well he'll come up with a result when the opportunity is there. that's something hincapie didn't figure out 'til this year.
