Ok, right now I am coaching a female athlete. She has a reaction every time she wears a chest mounted heart rate monitor w/a strap. We've used polars but have not used the heart rate sports bra. Does anyone out there have a recommendation on either how to overcome this or move to a sports bra?

So she is having a reaction to the strap?

The womens Lounge at MTB review seems to be fairly active forums.mtbr.comforumdisplay.phpOpen ↗- maybe if you post this query there you will get a sensible answer.

My wife uses some type of special sports bra with slits for the HR monitor straps. That way the strap only touches skin where the sensor is.

Yes, it seems to be the strap. Both a polar soft strap and a hard strap.

Try washing in a dish washing liquid and extra rinsing, sounds like a detergent reaction.

Put a layer of MICRO-PORE tape on the skin (it breaths & will not come off until you want it to) beneath the strap ... the tape will provide a boundary layer between her skin & the strap.

Micropore itself can lead to contact dermatitis - best to avoid adhesives on sensitive skin if possible. -
Is she allergic to latex? All of the straps contain a small amount of latex. Polar has a new electrode belt for the Wearlink that is hypoalergenic. Also they have a sports bra that the transmitter slides into.
Adidas also makes a sport bra designed to work with the Wearlink. Its made to support the Wearlink WIND/RS800, they actually have a whole line of products called FUSION even down to shoes that are compatible with Polar products. The Adidas Shirts can be used with the Wearlink and Wearlink WIND
another option, the Numetrix sports bra. They manufacture it to work with the Wearlink. it snaps right onto the bra.
PM me if you need more info im sure I can point you in the right direction.
