Hi, My sister says that she "hears her heartbeat" in one of her ears lately. She has no other
symptoms. She is 58 has HTN under control, walks to exercise, and eats very nutritiously. Is this a
symptom of somthing that she should get checked out. Her hearing is normal otherwise in both ears.
thanks in advance

thanks in advanceThis is pulsatile tinnitus. It can be due to a lot of different things. She should see a physician,
probably an otolaryngologist (ENT).Causes can be completely benign--such as earwax lodged against the eardrum--or potentially dangerous--
such as a bruit or other circulatory problem.

She is 58 has HTN under controI have this in my left year. My ENT doctor said that the carotid on that side is much closer to the
ear and thus the heartbeat feeling in the ear. It is usually worse when I am under stress and I know
my bp is rising......hope this helps....Virginia -

Her ears. Half of the people in the hyperbaric oxygen chamber where I am go there for their ear
problems. The sooner you do it, the better off you are.FP
