    so...like...totally
I'll admit I have a weird relationship with cigarettes, I can go days
or weeks without them and not even notice and then just decide to have
one or two. I never really decide to quit or start up. I smoke when I
smoke because I enjoy it. Just recently, I finished off a pack and
hadn't gotten around to getting more. Since I was off work all last
week I didn't really have anyone to get any from anyway. Then on
Saturday I found a pack that I bought and then forgot about. I didn't
miss smoking, but I don't really have a problem with it when I do.

The only time I really have a problem is when we're at bars. A year
ago they passed a law banning smoking in all restaurants and bars.
It's very strange t me to have the vodka tonic in one hand but no
    cigarette in the other.

Get a self help book...look up addictions and that river in Egypt...Denial!

Sure even I said that...I was a 3 pack a day man in my time. It took lung
diease to stop me...what will it take to stop you? Trust me you won't want
to stop the way I was force to. Plus if you're a diabetic...95% of smoking
type 2's have a limb removed. Won't that look cute in a bathing suit or
    running around with the grandkids.

I talked to the doctor about it, she's of the opinion that 2-3 cigaretts a day
and the fact that I can go days or weeks between smoking without noticing
means it's really not a big deal.

if i were still at the pack a day like I was earlier, then she'd be concerned
    but she says I'm fine

Oh, I love radish sandwiches. Did you ever have those huge black radishes in

Anyway, joints reduce the need for smoke a lot more than cigarettes, it's a
pity we can't smoke joints at work or before driving.

Really. I saw a list. Everything was on it, and I hated everything
    on the list. Everything.

OBFood: I sliced some radishes very thin and added about 1/4 their
volume of thinly sliced red onion. I then seasoned them with fresh
ground black pepper and kosher salt. Then I added some rice wine
vinegar and some good olive oil. It was a nice little salad with the

yeah and I've heard of studies saying up to 3 a day causes negligible harm
unless you're predisposed anyway. There's a study to back up any opinion out
    there.
I don't quit because I don't really want or need to. I've got other habits

When people tell me how long they've been a non-smoker I reply with "good for

Sorry you have to go through that, but it's part of the process.
Try really spicy things. Pamper yourself, but not too much or you'll
gain the stereotypical 20 pounds of the ex-smoker.

You'll know you have it licked when you hate the smell of cigarette
smoke. (Ah, but I still love the odor of a burning wooden match!)

Congrats! Well done!...It's hell isn't it.

I went the gum way...The gum tastes like [censored], bad [censored], undercooked bad
chewy [censored]... but I liked stuff again. And why is it the Government only
has support webpages for teenagers for quitting smoking...something I
really hated. It was like they gave up on me and my age group.

It's because the tobacco lobby is so large and so well-funded the govt.
doesn't dare cut off their customer base. Somebody has to buy the
stuff. Teenagers are a good target because you and I know that no
matter what propaganda the govt. puts out there, teens will do as they
please and follow their friends' bad examples. They have no motivation
to quit (or to drive safely, for that matter) because they believe they
    are invincible and immortal. Sigh.

Good for you. If I recall, the first day was somewhat easy - the 2nd day
sucked and the 3rd day REALLY sucked, but after that it wasn't totally
    awful.

Not totally awful. Great. Just what I was looking for. A not
    totally awful day.

Don't worry. It's all one day at a time, one hour at a time, 5 minutes
at a time. Eventually you think they smell horrid, and the idea of
kissing a smoker reminds you of kissing an ashtray after a keg party.

I've not found offense in them yet, but I do smell them on other
people quite distinctly as of this afternoon.

See? You're starting to find positive things already! Your sense of
    smell is improving.
Pretty soon, you'll notice that you're using smaller amounts of
seasoning, and things are tasting really good.
