I read that Erik Vendt did 30 1000s and it was something like descend by
sets of 10 on 10:30. I may not have that exactly right but it sounded
incredibly hard.

I'm not sure that this would compare, but it's impressive to me even to
this day - back in Mike Bruner's day I think he did 100 x 100m on 1:00.

I think he did 100 x 100m on 1:00.
So after 15 of them, his 1500m time
would be 15 minutes. Isn't that an
awfully fast pace for 10,000m?

No, he held a 50 second pace, so he got a whole ten seconds rest each
time.

Might these be 100y swims rather than 100m?

So, by resting between hundreds, he could
swim the first 15 x 100m, 1500m, in 14'50",
then rest another ten seconds and keep
going another 8500m at the same pace, at a
time when the 1500m WR was 15'02"?

15 x 50 is 12:30, not 14:50.

I'll bet you and manotee both voted for George.

Do I have to start putting smiley faces on for you?

OK, I'll admit to missing the humor in your previous post however in my
defense it was only very slightly humorous to begin with...

Why start observing usenetiquette
now?

Because you apparently can't see humor without them.

100 x 100m on 1:00 is only slightly real.
:-) Woops, a little yards/meters error there. Hopefully some of you
figured out I really meant to say yards (short course.) On the bright
side, there's little I can do in this group to damage my reputation :-)
Thanks,
Al
You hit the nail on the head :-)
