Eggs should not be hard-cooked in their shell in a microwave oven.
Pressure will build up and the egg will explode.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

This warning is not entirely true!

There is a device on the market called "Nordic Ware Microwave Egg
Boiler", which steams up to 4 eggs in their shell in the microwave oven.

However, it is much cheaper and simpler to use any microwave-safe
container already in your kitchen to hard-cook eggs in their shell in a
method described in the E-article below.

Wrap eggs individually in aluminum foil. (My mom had theories about
shiny side out vs. in, but it doesn't really matter.) Put in
microwave-safe bowl. Fill bowl with water. Put in microwave on high
until water boils, then continue to boil until they reach the desired
    degree of done-ness.

For some physics reason that I don't know off the top of my head, and am
too lazy to google. I grew up in a house with no stove (we had 2
microwaves, an electric skillet, and a toaster oven), and did hard
boiled eggs that way at least once a month, and they never arced. One
of the microwaves is still working away at my house (which does have a
stove, thank goodness), ~15+ years later.

    Phoebe 🙂

Huh? But the microwaves won't penetrate the foil...

Anyway, putting eggs in the MW is basically making "Chicken Grenades" with
    some powerfully explosive force!

But they heat the water that the foil wrapped eggs are in, and that is how
the eggs boil without being nuked inside..

Not if treated in the above manner, as the egg is notbeing microwaved, it is
being boiled - hence Jan's comment of 'Clever :-)' if ya see what I mean?

I hardley see the point in doing it unless the m/w is the only cooking
    appliance you have.

    Me either, heheheheh...

    Cheers!
