snow, and a ton of stuff I'm sure I'll remember as soon as I hit the send key.

I guess I fit the dysfunctional parameters well enough, soooo....

I'm thankful for: A Wife who loves me (in spite of myself) AND who rides; Recovering from Cardiac
Surgery; 2nd chances; still being able to ride; ANY place for me to ride; still having most of my
marbles; the people I've met, and have yet to meet, from A.M-B; cool water on a warm summer days
ride; family that doesn't give up on me, even when I give up on myself; chances to help at races
and on trail work days; Black Cherry Almond Clif bars; good music to make the hour on the
stationary bike go faster; the enthusiasm of children; the aromas from the dinner table as family
gathers to eat.

We've already had our Thanksgiving up here in Canada, but it never hurts to be mindful of what one
has reason to be thankful for...

I'd like to calm down and wish Pete Fagerlin and Jerry Daniels a Happy Thanksgiving.

I was wondering, you two, since I now have both of your phone numbers, and street address, if maybe
I could stop by and see you both over the holliday weekend? Then I could find out what REAL mountain
biking is, huh JD? Then, I could drop by and see Pete, and he could teach me all I need to know
about computers!

Speaking of areas that beg to be played in (poetic licence...)

We go somewhere new and usually remote for TG, and this year we are heading towards the John Day
fossil beds of central Oregon. We'll be in a tiny town named Mitchell, just north of the Ochoco
National Forest. At this time of year that area is a [censored] shoot for weather. We know its gonna be
cold, but it might be pretty dry and bikable, or it could dump a couple of feet of snow. We plan to
take bikes and snowshoes.

Wondering if anybody has firsthand knowledge of bike trails along the northern edge of the Ochoco
National Forest? Literature and FS maps show "legally bikable" singletrack, but would be
interested to know if folks have reasonable favorites that might still be under the snow line at
this time of year?

the Deschutes forest has the best trail info I've seen on any FS site. Too bad there's not a
national template. But sometimes you can get paper guides just by calling the local forest office.
I've gotten all the one's I've been using that way.

I have a lot to be thankful too. I think we all do (even if we may not always realize it). I won't
be doing any turkey burner rides, but I'll raise my glass to all of you who will be.
