My day was a kick. Saw Tony Oliva at lunch today at Don

Nope. I hit the St. Paul market with a friend around 9:45 to
get berries, then stopped at Rainbow to get mangoes for the
mango-strawberry jam, then came home famished a snarfed down
a ham sandwich and a cup of Maruchan noodle-something. Rob
helped me clean the berries and I'm about 10 minutes away
from Mango-Strawberry Jam without Kiwi Fruit.

In your dreams. Just got back a while ago from the Twins
game. I took pictures for you -- of our brand spanking new
light rail trains, etc. Opened yesterday with free rides
offered yesterday and today and Niece Patty and I rode the
train from her neck of the woods to the HumperDome to see
the Twinkies look stupid in front of the Milwaukee Braves
and 23, 597 other people. Three or four runs walked in. A
stupid catcher mistake on the FIRST PLAY of the game. Tori
Hunter going for the out in deep center and poking the
ball over the fence for a home run (that wasn't stupid,
just an unfortunate happening). Lots of naysayers about
the projected results of lightrail transit here, but I can
see me driving north a bit to pony up $1.25 to ride the
train to downtown ( to within two blocks from Dayton's --
er, Marshall Field's). A girl can do a fair amount of
damage shopping in the 2-1/2 hours that the buck and a
quarter would get
me. Anyways, I t'ought of you when I took some pics of the
cars. Took us an hour to get one on the way home -- the
other 24, 396 people had the same plan -- go south on
the Hiawatha Line.

OB Food: I called for Chinese pick-up; they were closed. I
picked Rob up and we headed for Mexican comida; no parking
available (that means the place would be crowded). So we
headed for home and stopped at Famous Dave's for ribs -- Rob
had some kind of spicy smoked sausage thang. Different than
the Market -- not bad, actually.

For sure! Twice! On Sunday, Niece Patty and I took it from
the VA Hospital to the HumperDome--it stopped right across
the street from the Dome. Coming home was a challenge --
because of the free rides that day and the novelty of it
all, and the chance to not pay for parking at a Twins game,
there were a boatload of folks along the downtown stops and
they were metering access down there so that the folks at
the easternmost stop downtown (the dome) would be able to
get on, too. Otherwise, the trains would have been filled by
the Target Center on the western edge of the line.

Rob and I went down on Monday for a lark - we got on at Fort
Snelling (they have a park and ride lot there) and went all
the way downtown -- it took 30 minutes. Off at 5th and
Nicollet then a short walk to D'Amico and Sons at Gaviidae
for a bite of lunch, then back home -- on the same $1.25
ticket that got us there. Rob could've ridden for 50 cents,
but it would have meant two ticket transactions and the
train was there when we were buying our tickets. I look
forward to going downtown again to do some shopping,
although Dayton's/Field is the only department store left
downtown. I want to do it again soon, just so I get familiar
with the operation, etc. Also, there's a dive on Franklin
that I want to check out. :-)
