  1. Have a great birthday tomorrow! I'll be thinking
of you as I make your Rhubarb Custard Cake to celebrate
your birthday with. (Well, I was gonna make it anyway,
so maybe I can get points for making it for your birthday. ;-))

You may get scolded because her birthday isn't until tomorrow!

Well I don't care - I'm heat proof! Happy Birthday for tomorrow when I won't
    be posting, Barbara! ',;~}~

Thanks, Kate. If I work it right, I'll be alone for most of the day.
Rob's going out of town with friends and we'll hook up for dinner in the
evening. It will be a nice evening, I'm sure. May even have to crack
another bottle of that Riesling. . .

I'll add my (early) Happy Birthday wishes as well, although I don't think
I'll be making a Rhubarb Custard Cake. Brownies, however, are a distinct
    possibility.

    Happy Birthday, Barb!

Thank you, sir. I'll be making --- reservations. Will go out with
friends tomorrow night -- don't know where. We're pretty boring.

Well, I had to send it on Friday since I wouldn't have
computer access over the weekend. So there! :-)

what with all the boozing lately? Better watch it.

Hey, I saw that! This upset me so, I had to go and pour myself a
    fresh drink of Scotch. :o)

The first black figs of the season are at the greengrocers' and at the
fruit stands on street corners. They are nice and ripe and as sweet
as honey. I bought some Italian Fontina and fresh, crispy crunchy
Italian bread to go with the figs. Marcel and I will have a fine
dessert tonight! This calls for a good Italian wine, doesn't it?

Absolutely! I wish we had fresh figs on our street corners. :-)

Not even CLOSE! With me, it's once in a blue moon; she's made it an art

When did Scotch become Italian wine?
