As long as you aren't planning to allow anyone to use it as a rack to
suspend things like macrame cat mobiles from, no. The wheel will bear
the weight of the bike -alone- indefinitely.

Thanks - it just seems like it might damage the rear shock/linkage
assembly if it is subjected to constant pulling from supporting the
bike - in other words, forces in the opposite direction than they are
designed to handle. Maybe not, though.
