This is exactly the reason why Froid was delaying the request for
testing the B-sample until the UCI took the bull by the horns and
ordered up the test before the lab shuts down for holiday.

WTF is wrong with these guys "... citing a person at the International Cycling
Union with knowledge of the result."
None of this is the way anything like this is supposed to be handled.

Dude - get over your hangup. The fact that things are coming out in the
press doesn't change the facts of the case. We are just hearing them a
little earlier than we otherwise would. People talk. [censored] leaks. It's
that simple. Relax and enjoy the spectacle cuz real racin' is over

Haven't you heard, Ron? L'Equipe validated rumor and inuendo as valid
alternatives to fact and data. If it's been published, then it's automatically
true. Actually, L'Equipe stole the method from Rolling Stone. Lance just got
off because he had a great legal team.

Original Times article:
My favorite:
"""
Landis’s personal doctor, Dr. Brent Kay of Temecula, Calif., said he
hoped that the results of Landis’s carbon isotope ratio test and of the
initial T/E test were false positives. He did, however, acknowledge that
the initial test found a ratio of 11 to 1 in Landis’s system. He and
Landis are seeking an explanation for that high level.
“I’ve seen bodybuilders with numbers 100 to 1,” Kay said. “Although
Floyd’s was elevated, it’s not off the chart or anything.”
"""
Yeah, bodybuilders, that sure is the right line of defense.

Real racing is going on this week, and next, and the one after... and the
one after that I'll see Tom Boonen racing through my home town. And then
there's the Vuelta.
As to the leaks, we don't know they're authentic, and we won't know
they're authentic until either ASO or the UCI makes a formal
announcement.

Leaks suck, I agree, but has any of the leaks turned out to be false?

We don't know, do we. <sigh>
They are discreditable.

Stop trying to be obtuse, it's obvious and not helpful. Yes we do know that
some of the leaks have been confirmed, for example:
- leak: a rider has tested positive: confirmed
- leak: it was for T/E ratio: confirmed
- leak: it's a US rider: confirmed
- leak: it's a Phonak rider: confirmed
- leak: it was for stage 17: confirmed
- leak: it's Landis: confirmed
- leak: the ratio was 11 to 1: confirmed
- leak: it was synthetic: confirmed
We know a lot, too much I'm afraid, and it's all being confirmed so
far....but leaks still suck.

It doesn't matter. Everyone knows the samples were compromised by lowly
French lab workers because they couldn't handle an American winning
again. Or, unknown to him, Floyd's IV was injected with the synthetic
hormone by people who thought they were doing the right thing.
Obviously, the addition of testosterone in order to be effective must
be done over a lengthy period of time, not just overnight, and also
obviously, since adding testosterone really doesn't benefit a cyclist
overnight, of course Floyd took some synthetic stuff. Since his
previous 6 drug tests and the following 2 drug tests were all negative,
it's obvious that he drugged himself just on this one stage, thinking
it would help. Duh.

I would've thought the half life of testosterone in the blood stream was short
enough that any reasonable attempt at using it covertly would be hidden by the
time a post race sample was taken.

Lowly French lab workers, I don't think so. The whole affair climbs up
to the highest levels of the French government as the French minister
for the defense of Francicite, M. Jean-Jacques-Paul Dupont-Dupond in
person cooked up the whole affair under his beret over his morning
snack of baguette and snails. Sipping a semillating Chateau La Pompe
06, the wireless humming in the background, his reverie was interrupted
by a familiar tune, Georgius' classic "Quand les andouilles pedaleront,
tu meneras le peloton". Sacre-bleu, exclaimed M. le ministre, the
tour, he begins soon. And another americain with name in ell
threatens... In the name of the deep France, we must reclaim our
national marketing caravan! To work, little grey cells, to work!

actually having all those negative tests provide what are normal
tostesterone levels for landis during that week in comparison with
that one of stage 17. any way you want to see it, he's doomed...

If guzzling water is evidence of doping, then I guess we're going to
have to throw out most of the field, as practically everyone was
dousing themselves ala Floyd on stage 18.
Apparently they thought it was the cooling effect that worked so well
for Floyd and that should work for them, or they all started doping to
try to gain back the many minutes they'd all lost and needed to fool
the testers, too.

But we read so often in this group that only stuff which is absolutely
and without doubt scientifically proven is used by the professional
cyclists - this as an argument why nobody would use testosterone patches
for recovery.
Now you tell us they would do this water stuff out of pure hope that it
might help?
