  1. Question for all you city slicker cyclists out there:

I live in pittsburgh (HILLY). It's sort of been my project to convert this mountain bike that I got,
into a bona fide street demon.

So far (I just got the bike), I've really only replaced the tires, went from knobby's to some
semi-slick road tires. I like to go fast.

I'm looking at different handlebars because I don't like these riser mtb bars that are on it, they
give me this obnoxiously upright position that kills aerodynamicy, and nearly puts me on my back
when I climb hills. (I used to ride a road bike) Anyway, a friend gave me these time trial bars (the
kind that point forward and have a bit of a drop, not those clip on things).

Can anyone advise whether it would be worthwhile to try these, I guessed that they would give me a
bit more aerodynamicy and improved hill climbing ability, but I might be wrong.

IF you have any other suggestions, I'm open to those as well.

    Thanks

    -LEe

They were free, so the only investment will be your time and effort. Sure, give it a try and see if
you like it. Your bike will be really interesting looking, too.

  3. I believe you are referring to the bull horn bar that the aero bars clip on to. The problem may be
with shifters and brake levers pointing in the right direction. If you have grip shifters or rapid
fire, things are going to be very weird.

Valid point, I was thinking of bar end brake levers, which aren't too expensive, and I haven't come
up with a good idea for the shifters. Not sure where I could put them.

    Any suggestions?

There used to be a guy who rode with our club on a MTB with aerobars. I believe he had bar end
shifters on the ends of the aerobars and brake levers on the flat bar section. He was very fast.
