Hammock use in Scotland

I dont think using it on the ground is of any use except when stuck
some place you did not plan for, if I knew I would only have open
ground I would take a tent.
The trees in the UK are often hard to find and where they are is low
and insect territory.

I have been meaning to go hammock camping all summer but something
keeps croping up and it gets put back.
I have been thinking, when I get around to it, of taking a few nuts or
friends with me and finding someplace with rocks apart enough to
create something to tie the hammock ends to.

I am sure I have passed such places many times, but, now when I try to
think of specifics I can not come up with anyplace,

anyone think of a UK area with rocks with cracks or spikes, placed at
hammockable distance apart; that doesnt involve needing to wear a
harness overnight in case you fall out in mid-sleep ?
but it also needs to be some place worth walking too Snowdonia or ELD
(not Scotland for me on this ocassion, too far for a trial hammock
night)

I have never used the Hennessey outside the house.
I have used a regular hammock with a hammock mosquito net and poncho
as rain cover. never in very cold weather, and I am not sure how
hot/old it has been, nippy is the best I can remember
(but it would have been in what we call spring and autumn.. used it in
Korea...at the time I considered it to be too cold in the winter, and
it was too hot and humid in the summer, I was a bit of a fair weather
camper in them days, all my mountain overnight trips in Korea were
spring and autum - similar to our our spring and autumn for the short
time they last)
I used foam matress under my sleeping bag though.
Never used it in very cold nor in very windy conditions, the system
kept the rain and any bugs out, I just hope the Henessey is as good.
(not sure how good this will be in the Henessey as it is a weird kind
of a hammock having that slit down the middle, which I fear will make
it hard getting in and out of, though all the reports say it is not a
problem)

I am swayed by the claims of benefit in comfort, weight and protection
from wet ground, but I am unsure that they are suitable for 3-season
use in Scotland as they have limited insulation from cold. Has anyone
used them successfully and did they provide good shelter out of the
box or did you enhance/modify them?

Of course, there is the other issue of finding suitable trees for
hanging the thing.

I used my Hammock/Hootchie combo in the Brecons in March, and in Scotland
during the first week of May.
Some people but karrimats/thermarests in, but with a layer of clothes inside
my cosy down sleeping bag the only thing that got cold was my nose. And even
that was cold in a nice sort of way. Very very comfy.

I have one of these. It is a wonderful sleep. Very comfortable. I do
have a problem with using it in cold weather. Living in Texas as I do,
cold is less than about 50 degrees F. Under thos conditions of life, your
cold tolerence goes. I have tried getting in with a pad under me, both a
Z-Rest and a Thermarest. It doesn't work for me. So, when it's warm I
use the Hennesey and sleep comfortably, when it's not warm, I sleep on the
ground.
