  1. You might remember I told you that Halfords told me that my Brompton
would be delayed because Brompton's suppliers had let them down. That
the bike would eventually be delivered at the end of February.

    They were lying.

Brompton have no such problems, but Halfords have no agreement to sell
Bromptons, and had been doing so via some shady deal with another
supplier. This has fallen through. Anyone whose bike was supplied in
this way might be well advised to check their warranty.

Now, I'm sure being able to say 'we can source any bike on sale in the
UK' was a good way for Halfords Business Services to win the contract
from my employer - and probably many others. And blaming the supplier
was always an easy way out for the unprincipled.

So, a new order has been placed with another bike shop, who will be able
to invoice Halfords. But this means that it will be another 6 weeks
before delivery of a bike I originally ordered last November. However,
this was better than the alternatives they suggested - to pick something
    else from their range.

So, Yah Boo HalFRAUDs. Rot in hell.

Is this under the Cycle to Work scheme?

    It is.

However, I shall not be, for at least 6 weeks.

Commiserations - bad choice of words on my part. Maybe you can practice
your fold-unfold with origami in the interim. :-)

We objected strongly to Halfords being an approved supplier, on the
grounds that they promote speeding and antisocial driving by selling
radar detectors - and they didn't make the cut. I don't know if that
feedback got passed on to them, though.

I shall be making my feelings felt to my employer about their choice of
supplier; and if they get the contract again next year, I shall start to
    wonder...

On the up side, at least my employer has tried. The last company I
worked for just didn't understand bikes at all.

I'm in limbo with my order. "My" Brompton was delivered to my local Halfords
    almost two weeks ago
but the rear rack & light had been damaged in transit, so the local Halfords
manager sent it back to their suppliers.
As Halfords haven't been particularly forthcoming about the progress on the
repair, I was getting [censored] so I phoned Bromptons today to be told the
    whole sorry tale.
So currently I don't know if "my" Brompton made it to them for repair or if
it is stuck with the now non Brompton suppliers.

My employers recently sent out request for feedback on the cycle2work
scheme, unfortunately I'd already replied fairly favourably
several days ago before this cockup became apparent.

Sounds like you need to phone Halfords on 08700 660511 and give them
    rocks about non-delivery.

I seem to recall a link being sent to me recently, but I parked it until
the bike turned up. Maybe I'll phone the lass in HR that deals with the
scheme. As the MD championed it, and told us how he cycles into work
(yeah, right), I'd better let him know.
