    Just back:
    1) Excellent integrated cycle paths and signage
    2) Taxis slow and move around cyclists
    3) Everyone stops at red lights
    4) Bikes everywhere
    5) Trams everywhere
    6) Hotels give visitors free travel pass for duration of stay
    7) Hotel rents bikes to see city
    8) Bike is Aluminium, chain guard, 8spd hub, dual drum brakes
    9) Parking for bikes in market square
    10) Bikes allowed on trains
    etc...

    So, guess the city <hint: not in UK, but you knew that by No.1>

    Managed 50km just looking aroung the locale in 27C and normal clothes.
    In the unlikely event that the roadie I drafted is reading this,
    thanks, It was probably a shock to see a city bike in a paceline :-)

    They've all got cars there now -that's why there's no spare oil about.

    well done to the two that correctly guessed Switzerland. It was the law
    abinding and free travel that gave it away wasn't it?

    It's too industrial and it's very expensive. Also, it's not a typical Swiss
    city, more like an industrial French one. The old town isn't bad though.

    Can't be, one loon on a bike was trying to cross the flow out of the
    city at the Thomas Lewis Way/Stoneham Way/Burgess Road junction tonight,
    a bloke on a racer behind seemed to be track-standing, but the nutter
    couldn't wait, couldn't hear very well either with BIG headphones on as
    well....
