I think you'll be disappointed. El Guerrouj is apparently going to do the 5000 in the World Champs,
but has committed to precisely 1 tuneup race--in the Czech Republic in June.
The 1500 is a LOT more popular than 5000 (outside Africa at least) and the money he can make in
Europe is a lot greater in 1500. I would not expect him to jeopardize his paydays. Also, given his
prior disappointments in the Olympics, I would expect him to concentrate on just the 1500 in Athens.
El Guerrouj wants Haile's record, but whether he wants Haile is a different matter. Also, with Haile
being maybe not quite the athlete he was when he set his records, and with El Guerrouj's commitment
to 5000 open to question, handicapping a 5000 race between them might be interesting.

And then, of course, there is Kenenisa Bekele. Did anyone catch his awesome display at the World
X-Country? Staggering.
Oh brother. What's next? A wrist-worn sperm count/sweat acidity analyzer? Blood pressure, like
cholesterol, IQ, blood alcohol, etc, are merely numbers which have no difinitive meaning. Now if
you'll excuse
me......I have some bacon grease to drink.

uhh that'd be one hell of a thrill.
i <3guerrouj always used videotapes of him winning the 1500s to psych me up before a race. he's
amazing. i mean, it looks so easy when he does it. and so beautiful.
