Groupset and Wheels for Pinarello Galileo

I would not waste my money on a CF seatpost. If youare looking to improve the ride with it,get a different frame. Consider Campy Centaur. Plain old open pros and any hub like a DA or ultegra or chorus or record are much better than Elites, and are less money.

I would do the following:

Campy Chorus-10 Groupset
Ritchey WCS OS stem & handlebar
Mavic Ksyrium Elite Wheel Set
Selle Italia Flite Titanium Saddle

I prefer Campy over Shimano and the Mavic Ksyrium Elite Wheelset are amazing!

I'd go chorus groupset with any of the campag wheels or the ksyriums

then i'd go cinelli bar and stem

I have a Galileo, and I set it up with Record, (cheap at the end of the year) Campy Eurus for Racing and a set of open pro's on chorus hubs for around town, (I also have some Ksyrium Elites, but I don't ride 'em much) DEDA Newton Stem and Bar, Chorus Ti Seat post, Sella Italia Aspide seat, various tires based on needs.
I have a 2002, which does NOT have the carbon stays, and I knocked around upgrading when I saw that thing, but I rode a carbon seatpost on my bike, and I have to say it provided 90% of the comfort the stays did. The 2004 I rode was not the correct size for me, but the harsheness test should have been valid. I went back to the Ti post for fast training, but I put the carbon on for long rides. I have an Alien post. I recommend it based on the results from my highly calibrated butt.

I have a simliar set up as Angrydave. 2002 Galielo (Star Color - 60cm) with Record and Eurus Wheels for racing (Open Pros -Record hubs for training) San Marco Era seat, Record Carbon seatpost, 120cm Zepp Stem, Prima 199 bars (Too flexible, I'd go with an oversize Newton or Cinelli Solida) Good bike, nice looking, stiff but a little heavy.

I have a 2004 and love it but I would buy campy for it as it is Sacreligious to install [censored]! Also campy wheels are great! 🙂

Campagnolo Chorus is more than enough... 🙂

Get a nice pair of Campagnolo wheels. Kysriums are just for show (they do look cool...). :p

Or, as another poster said, for usefulness get a pair of chorus or record hubs laced to an ambrosio or mavic open pro set of rims and it will be much better for less money.

If you decide to listen to everyone preaching about campagnolo groupsets, make sure you ride one before investing in it. It is a much different feel from shimano. I personally don't like the feel of campy's levers and deraillers. Their brakes on the other hand, I love. If I was building the bike, I'd do the Ultegra groupset, but swap out the brakes with a set of Chorus. Just my opinion/preferance, though.

I would go Chorus/Centaur with Campy Proton wheels. They are less money than Ksyriums ($150 less), and lighter and totally bombproof. I have two Pinarello's one with an aluminum seat post and one with carbon. Go with Carbon (IMHO). Rithchey makes a nice bar and stem, but if you want to go all Italian, I like the 3TTT Less XL. The Campy Shimano debate really comes down to preference. I prefer the feel of the Campy levers, but Ultegra is perfectly fine too. I have a Pinarello Surprise (a step below the Galileo and a Pinarello Opera (a step above the Galileo). My Surprise has Ultegra and my Opera has Record. Both are perfectly fine, but I prefer the Campy. Record vs Ultegra is not a fair comparison though....
I think you will really enjoy the Galileo.
