Yesterday I did 74 very hilly miles, from Morley over the Pennines to Denshaw and Delph then back over Saddleworth Moor to Holmefirth. Through Denby Dale towards Wakefield and home via Dewsbury and Heckmondwike. Why are they so many tosspots driving cars in Batley ?
Today I converted my bike from Uniglide to Hyperglide. Following Sheldon Browns information on replacing a freehub body it went relatively smoothly so I can now use Hyperglide cassettes instead of filing the splines on to make them fit on my old UG freehub body. Thanks Sheldon.

Yes, there are some superb views. I regularly go up that way on the road from Ripponden that ducks under the M62 at junction 23 (I think). I don't go as far as Delph very often though but that road is really scenic especially looking back, west, with the two reservoirs. Yesterday there were some folk sailing there and at one of the farms the farmer was training some young collies. Another one of my favourites is from Hebden Bridge to Littleborough and back to Ripponden.

I did about 5 miles and a 2 mile walk with my 2 year old daughter :-)

Its not limited to Batley, the whole of Spen Valley is filled with them!!!!

I regularly ride from Huddersfield to Morley on the A62, but on Saturday I travelled around Dewsbury through Batley proper to the A62 junction and on this stretch some Twunts in three different Nissans thought it cool to hurl abuse at me and another cyclist that was ahead of me. Poor bloke he was not even dressed up in lycra. Not going that way again, [censored] road anyway.

Saturday I took the kids to Dewsbury (in the car my youngest is only 8) and we did a bit of the canal and up & down the Spen Valley greenway. This is a fine thing - we should have more of them. 16 miles all in all.
Sunday I set off from East Ardsley, on bridleways into Middletown woods (nice downhill), back up to the top and down the cycle way to the White Rose, up the hill into Morley, down the A650 to Tong, Bridleway down & under the M62 to Cleckheaton, Roads to the start of the aforementioned Spen Valley cycleway, along that to the other end, then the towpath into wakefield, back on the road home.
