Yes. Clare and I are travelling up early Saturday morning and staying in
Braithwaite for the week. Will be leaving from Seathwaite via Base Brown
and Green Gable with (I think) a friend from North Yorks at about 0800 ish.

Could have a ng meet at 30 paces 270 deg from the Memorial plaque
before/after the service.

Nope. But will be dropping off a wreath at the memorial to the
Canadian airmen in the Beacons on Sunday.

Try the Royal British Legion, but I think you may have left it a bit late.
You could always take a bunch of real poppies and a wooden stake to secure
them to with some sisal, they should then disintegrate naturally.

Did that the last two years as we stayed at the YHA. This year we are
extending for a week so opted for a very comfortable cottage in Braithwaite.

thought leaving a plastic poppy a tad unfriendly, environment-wise. Thanks

the B29, but some time later....

See you there, then? After may work better: make way there as soon as
service finishes?

I'll probably be wearing black hoodie and/or waterproof jacket, with
The North Face zip-offs/black w/proof trousers, depending on the
weather. If it's really yuk, I'll have a red Lowe Alpine Mountain Hat
on. I'll probably also be carrying a blue Macpac Pursuit (unless I've
camped close and left the tent up).

however, I notice that most are not wood, but a nice wood effect plastic. I
think you'd be better off just leaving your lapel poppy than planting one of
these chunks of plastic.

Were you there, peeps? I was, and I did force my way through the
crowds right at the top after the service in what my compass told me
was a 270ish direction, but I couldn't see a likely looking bunch.
Also, it was freezing on that side of the monument, so I made my way
back down to Styhead Tarn about 20 minutes after the service.

A helicopter flew up and down the valley several times as I was
walking back down to Seathwaite, and so I assumed it was an exercise,
but the MR were out at the bottom and I heard them tell a man a short
distance in front of me that they'd had a message telling them that a
man had collapsed between Great and Green Gable. Hopefully all was ok
in the end.
