  1. well more like with a water based item like Chamois cream or something oil based? since most are artificial I have no idea what would work to make it really soft.

  2. have u tried the chamois cream from Assos?

  3. I bought the Shamois butter this time. iwas not sure if they were not the same and I liked the bottle better.

Try Chamois Butt'r. It's a water soluble cream that you apply to your nether regions, not to the chamois. Modern chamois do not need softening in my experience, but your skin can often use a little lube to prevent chafing.

  5. Hey, Stekek, I thought of something when we were discussing chamois, bibs, and chafing in your last thread -- you're doing enough riding, commuting daily, and now you're investing in good bibs and creams; how's your saddle?

The right saddle is as important as anything for good crotch health. If you're using a cream and you're still getting abrasions on the insides of your leg, maybe a narrower saddle would be worth a shot (that's assuming the one you're using isn't particularly narrow). Lots of bike shops offer trial periods for saddles. See if you can find a local shop that will let you use one for a week or two.

Anyone riding at least as much as you are (45min daily, right?) needs to at least consider a proper seat.

I have it it says to apply to both skin and the chamois so I wanted to ask.

Here I was getting chafed only on the right side. while in the store I was thinking why only the right side?? then I got the brainstorm maybe the saddle is a bit off. sure enough it was skewed a bit to the right. it seems better but i will know tomorrow.
the sadde is a specialized with some center relief. maybe not the best one as I have not heard speacalized does saddles right.

  8. I forgot I am going both ways so about 45 minutes each way. I just got a good deal on a computer so tomorrow I will know the miles.
I found a good way home the whole distance.

  9. Good to hear you found out that your saddle was skewed; that would cause a nasty rub for anyone. Do you know what kind of saddle it is? 45 minutes each way, nearly every day, equals a good amount of daily time with your bum and legs wrapped around that thing -- if it's not the right choice, you're definitely going to feel it.

  10. I still had a little rubbing on the way to work. so I had to put a slight skew to the left and it feels good now. though the saddle had a higher nose then iwant. I need a flatter seat atleast in the front.
well I got the computer on the bike and found I am doing 10 miles to work and about that back. I averaged 15MPH to work. that some 18 to 19mph on some flat and slight downhill and a slow of 8mp on a couple of small hills.
cpoming home was more slight uphill and rain so I only averaged 11mph. it was dark too so I did nto push it. so 20 miles a day is not too bad for someone that weights 249 and is 5'11" about 10 pounds on my back or so too. I could do more now too. but it's time to join the local club as I doubt I will ride jsut to ride. I always need to be doing it for some reason.

  11. Pretty good pace there, Stevek!
