I called the guy who designed and markets them and he confirmed
that Release 1.0 did have problems with people over a certain
weight. I didn't lean on him for a number, but sense that my
220# would have qualified..
But now they're on release 2.something and he says that the
problem no longer exists and they've got 300# riders on them with
no problems. (fingers crossed....)
So far the functionality seems tb really good. Like somebody
said, a quantum change from Height-Rite (although for the
accompanying quantum increase in cost it damn well better
be....).
There's no substitute for being able to keep one's hands on the
bars - and it's also nice that when it comes back up it's always
straight and not tilted left or rite.
Only gripe I have is the same one I have with Thompson posts: the
saddle clip does not fully accommodate the goofey rails on Brooks
saddles.
If one is happy with the saddle dead flat or a little nose up,
it's ok, but tilting the nose slightly downwards requires some
work with a Dremel tool or rat-tail file and replacing one of the
bolts with one that's 5mm longer.
FWIW, the best saddle clip I've ever owned is on my old RaceFace:
all 5mm keys, one bolt for attitude, another for fore-aft... and
they're totally independent. You can even swap the saddle out
and replace it without losing the tilt adjustment.
It must have some fatal flaw though, bc Race Face discontinued it
in favor of the conventional 2-bolt-4mm-for-the-clip with
commingled tilt and setback adjustments.
