  1. Does anyone know of anywhere in this country I can get my ETrex
Venture looked at? It appears to be functioning perfectly except for
    one niggling glitch:
It doesn't seem to be able to receive satellite signals any more. I
have found that it was far more accurate when it did.
Garmin do a 'one stop' repair / replacement for $75 + $25 postage,
plus my postage costs to the USA, which very nearly adds up to the
    cost new one.
I suspect the fault to be of a minor nature, perhaps a loose
connection from the internal arial, which hopefully would cost
    substantially less.

    Steve

p.s. I would have found a uk.rec.gps group, very useful for this
posting. More power to your elbow Dave Fawthrop.

The general opinion is to speak to Garmin (Europe) Ltd by phone rather than
emailing them, I found them to be very good offering to do a free repair on
an out of warranty Vista (glue) problem when I spoke to them.

Yes - I've just spoken to a very helpful chap about my out-of-warranty
Etrex Legend. It needs a replacement rubber case surround bit "We can
do that free" and a replacement for cracked screen glass "Send it in and
we'll let you know how much it'll cost to repair".

    Cheers

Brill! I owe you one Mike. Many thanks. Wonder why Google failed to
    turn that one up?

    Steve

Good question! I failed to find it via google myself. Came across it
on one of the sites selling Garmin stuff. "We don't do repairs - you
need to contact Garmin UK." Followed by the above info.
