It can, if prior to the trip you calculate your turn-by-turns on the PC
(use specialised software, mine came in a bundle with the GPS unit) and
then load them in the Vista as a so-called route. I did that for trips
with my previous car that had no built-in navigation. It works not very
well though because the indicated turn is pointing to the next
waypoint, not necessarily to the actual direction in which you need to
turn at that point.

Provided that you have the corresponding map part loaded into the unit,
you can. Hit the search button and select "Addresses". I carry half the
maps of the Netherlands in my 24 MB of memory. (That non-topo, just
street maps.)
