  1. 1: Can I really buy all the Vicodin I want by simply ordering online
without a prescription? That would be great because then I can take them
    every day forever.

2: Will those penis enlargement pills really work? I mean, who wouldn't
want it bigger right? And will it stay bigger, or do I have to continue
taking it. 'Cause if I do, my size is just fine.

3: Does that horny married gal with her husband out of town really want sex
with me? (You know, the one with her picture sent to everybody, most likely
even her husband.) And how can she fit me into her schedule since she'll be
screwing 10,000 other guys she emailed? Hopefully her husband is out of
    town for a looooong time.

4: How many different ways can you spell Viagra or mortgage?

5: It's so cool how I can buy Microsoft Office for $5. Microsoft is really
nice to do that for me.

6: Do I really have to confirm my bank info? I keep doing it every time I
get the email, but they keep losing it. Dumb [censored].

    Did I miss any?

You would develop tolerance, requiring larger and larger doses, until your
last Fed Ex package collapsed into in black hole.

Actually, you can buy MS Office for $19.95 from Microsoft if your
company has it deployed company wide. It's as good for as long as you
    are employed by that company.

How. Got a link? I've never seen that, but I would be interested. Of
course, my company has "one" computer...does that count?

I've bought software at the collage bookstore before. It's the academic
version, but it's the same thing, just in a different package and a lot
cheaper. I never use it for work...I promise 😉

No link. I got it on my company email about 3-4 months ago and that
email is long since deleted. I don't think you'd be able to get it
anyway. The company I work for probably has a license for
20,000-40,000+ copies. A customer of mine has the same deal at their
company and they also have a large workforce with a large deployment
of Office 2003 but not as large as ours.

Are you sure that's not just for a "media kit" (CD's only)? If your
company has a volume license for MS products, they simply receive a
certificate for the say, 20,000 licenses they bought. They can then
order as many media kits as they want for deployment, for what MS says
is the price of making the CD's and related material ($20 for Office
is about right). These media kits do not contain nor constitute a
license to use the product, and will say so all over them.

I know MS used to let each licensed employee of a company with a
volume license legally install one copy of Office on a home PC, but i
think that ended with Office 2000.

If it sounds too good to be true....

No, I'm not mistaken. You order it directly from Microsoft. It comes
in a "DVD package" that say "This product is not for resale. Please

Sorry John - I stand corrected. I had no idea about MS's Home Use
    program
    https://oms.one.microsoft.com/tc/cr_information/hupcommonquestions.htm

I remember when we upgraded to 2000 (which we're still on) from 97, we
were no longer able to let employees install a copy at home. This
must be MS's answer to the resulting outcry and maybe a good reason to
get current. Or maybe it's always been a perk of SA (software
assurance). I don't know, we've never sprung for SA along with our
    volume licenses.

I said that because some of our departments have managed to order
media kits from our software vendors for software we don't even have a
single license for. I naturally ask them if they really thought they
could buy MS MapPoint for $25 instead of $300 just by clicking the
    "media kit" button.

I guess i should have said if it sounds too good to be true, check it

They probably figure people were going to use it illegally at home so
why not make the price attractive for them.

This is quite true. Many early software companies turned out good
products which were miserable to install and were less than "user
friendly" because of fanatical copy protection. This was particularly
true of companies that produced software for the later Commodore
    systems, notably, Berkeley Softworks.

Similarly, heavy copy protection of some VHS videotapes made them of
    much poorer viewing quality.

We initially used Lotus, but went to Excel because we could install
it...illegally...on our home boxes and give it to our friends to play around
with. MS knew everybody was doing that, but at the same time, they were

Some people who have legitimately purchased copies of certain software
