Subject: Benjamin Sadavoy: What a fool!

That Benjamin Sadavoy, of Pedal Magazine what a fool!

Since he banned me from his web site forum it has practically died. He gets about ONE POST A WEEK!

So I go back to post about Kinash being a failure as CCA President (the only one-term CCA President
in the history of the Association) and Sadavoy (along with Rob Jones of Canadian Cyclist) pull my
posts.

Who cares!

Jones and Sadavoy helped Kinash stick around far longer than he should have. He should have been
impeached for incompetence two years ago.

The three of them are responsible for the sport in Canada being in the toilet.

As Rob pointed out, Bill Kinash deserves credit for several things: leading the constitutional change, dealing with the staff issue, the Worlds were successful on his watch, and he lead the hiring of the new staff who have already dealt with some important issues.

1) Constitutional Change! - what a load of [censored]. Will that make anybody go any faster? Will that create one more event? Will that find one more sponsors? Of course not. A typical bullshite response from paper-pushing bureaucrats embedded so deep in the system causing the problems they cannot even see a solution, never mind implementing it. What a typically Canadian response.

2) Staff issues like getting rid of Pierre A. Hutsebaut. A completely botched dismissal that took more than a year and who knows how much of a settlement from the CCA to Huts to avoid a law suit. Total failure by Kinash to handle the thing properly. Important positions were left vacant for more than a year at crucial times.

3) The 2003 Worlds,the biggest waste of $15 million in sport history. They came and went without almost a whimper. Let's count the sponsors or events generated from that $15 million: ZERO. A friggin' disgrace.

4) What did Kinash do with Lori Ann Meunzer's Olympic Gold medal? NOTHING! The idiot even went out of his way in a national interview to Canadian Press saying he had no plan to market the medal. How stupid can you be?

5)And what have Pedal Magazine and Canadina Cyclist Magazine done? They have done nothing but paint a rosy pciture while the sport of cycling circles the bowel on its way down the drain.

Here is an attempt a a discussion on Pedalmag.com forum that will no doubt be pulled by Benjy the Shabby Editor there in his rose-colored glasses.

BTW, I called Bill to gloat a bit and he felt compelled to lie. He tried to say Brett Stewart wanted to pursue my contract dispute in court instead of settling. I find that very hard to believe since Brett and I had chatted on a number of occasions privately during that period and I never got that feeling. No, it was first Huts and then Kinash, probably Jolly, too, but Kinash tries to blame Stewart. Typical spineless behavior.

Maybe Brett can point that out now....?

As if we needed anymore proof to the incompetence of Bill Kinash, former CCA president, here's what he said in an interview to Rob Jones of Canadian Cyclist today.

BK - We are working towards what I believe will be a world class cycling organization by 2012. "

Can you believe the guy? Another seven years, talk about ineptitude. You can turn General Motors or Delta Airlines around in less time than that.

The CCA has about 15 employees total! Ten provinces, some of which do almost nothing ,and he needs another seven years to get things in order.

Thank God this guy is gone.

Pierre Blanchard will be a fine President. At least he realizes there are problems,

"The Canadian Tire series was when I started to be involved (cycling) - it was fantastic, and certainly something we need to work towards again. In mountain bike we have a national series, but no title sponsor. Communication is a key requirement - cycling is very popular, but we don't hear much on the TV, in the newspapers. We have to invest in marketing and communications.

I'm not sure we have the solution right now; we have to talk, consult. But the CCA needs to believe in the provinces - that is where development comes from. We are relying too much on a few (top athletes); I am very scared that after they leave (retire) that there are not too many coming behind right now. Development is the place to put a lot of emphasis. When Alison (Sydor) is gone, when Lyne (Bessette) is gone ... I'm very scared."
