  1. The head on my Zefal Husky floor pump is giving me grief, so I'm looking for a
replacement. It's a Schrader head with a Presta adaptor, which is OK -- but the
rubber is worn out, and it never worked right on certain tubes anyway. So I
want something else. Normally I'd put a Silca head on, but it's nice to have
Schrader compatibility too. A better Presta adaptor would be fine. Any ideas?

  2. My fav. is Topeak's twin head upgrade kit. A lever picks P or S and the hose
    is long.

Topeak Smarthead. Pricy but the best thing if you need to do both
    Presta and Schraeder.

  4. Silica makes a head that "goes both ways"
You never have to worry about not being able to get a replacement gasket.

I like the Topeak Smarthead mentioned by other posters. I have the Zefal
Husky pump and a Silca big brass Presta head that I use as an adapter in
the Schrader. I just insert the Silca and lock it in the Schrader head
with the thumb lock. The Silca head has a washer that can easily be
replaced. You can also pop the Silca Presta unit out of the Schrader
hose any time you want, whether it's to make it easier to remove the
Presta connection from a tube or to use the pump on a Schrader tube. The
Zephal Husky is a good pump.

Silca has a new brass head with a not-wonderful schrader
fiting included. Good for "mostly presta" users.

Silca combo presta/schraeder, brass type, with a teeny hose clamp-last pump
    head you will ever buy.

If you buy this, or any Silca head, don't forget to buy a supply of
inserts (they're cheap) and a strap to hold it on the valve after the
first twenty times you use it. Also, get to the ride early so your
friends won't have to wait on you while you try to get the Silca head
    to stay on.

Can you tell that I am no fan of Silca? I know this is blasphemy
coming from an old guy like me, but I have never understood why people
value them so highly. So what if they last forever? I would rather
have a $25 pump that works and has to be replaced every five or six
years than one that doesn't work and lasts forever.

That's pretty much the setup I have now. But the Presta adaptor is a Zefal one
that came with my pump. It just isn't as good as a Silca. I can't seem to find
a replacement O-ring for it either.

I'd be very happy to find a Silca head like yours, but the ones I've seen don't
look like they'd fit in a Schrader head -- the hose nipple looks too long and
    skinny.

The new Silca could be fitted to your pump hose with a hose
    clamp.
