  1. Yesterday I over did it noodling around on the road bike & today decided instead to catch PT to work. On the journey homewards I caught the 246 bus up Hoddle St to Clifton Hill.

At 6.38pm, while the bus was waiting at the lights on the Victoria Pde/Hoddle St intersection, a whole pile of cyclists caned through the reds in very heavy peak hour traffic, heading northwards. Oh I thought, that's not Critical Mass (who would be pushing it to get over 15kph), that's the charmingly named "C**t on Punt" ride.

The discussion between passengers on the bus turned loud and then pretty bloody nasty, with milder suggestions ranging from "how all cyclists are like that" to the downright fcuking ridiculous "it should be legal to hit and kill [censored] who ride like that" and then descended into even more delightful low-brow [censored] about eye-gouging and ways to kill cyclists using a motor vehicle. Oh the joy of sitting there in the middle of that...and only God knows what other idle observations were being uttered in the dozens of cars also present at the intersection.

Now I'm not someone who's backwards in coming forwards, actually I'm rather bolshie at the best of times, but I quietly sat there, getting angrier and angrier by the moment.

At the self-aggrandising tryhards who busted the reds. At the idiotic bus passengers pissing and moaning away. So I remained quiet and just sat there.

Actually, to one passengers credit, he remonstrated with two other passengers about how stupid their conversation was. Wish I had of recorded these "conversations" as they would be potentially great material for a Clockwork Orange style deprogramming session. i.e: tape back the eyes and ears - hey you self-aggrandising dipshits, now listen to THIS.

I don't expect everyone to know this, but, I'm just one of probably dozens of people in Melbourne who do stacks of unpaid voluntary advocacy work on behalf of improving conditions for cyclists. Recently I was lucky enough to score some actual paid work in the bicycle industry. Yaaa for small miracles, but then again I don't expect any of those cyclists who caned through the lights on Hoddle this Friday evening to give a pitch of [censored] about any of that.

Ok, courier races are reasonably commonplace, but for fcuks sakes why tear through the reds on one of Melbourne's major intersections after a particularly bad month where cyclists in Melb and Sydney have been getting some extremely bad press? Ditto the effect the media could be having on the already pisspoor stereotypes that some motorists have towards cyclists?

    Get the drift yet kiddies?

Back to my PT journey homewards, while waiting at the tram stop opposite the Terminus pub, I recognised more riders who had probably (shock, horror) played it nice and stopped for reds. Then again, there's plenty of back streets, parks, open space and industrial areas in Melbourne where you can go play rockstars or Eddy Merckx to your little egos content.

When alighting at my stop, I noticed several C**t on Punt participants outside the Northcote Social Club. I realise most of you were probably decent enough to attempt a chat about the evenings activities.

But also knew there were a few of you present, to paraphrase an old piece of TISM prose, are 'so cocksure that your brain turned to scrotal tissue'.

Good on ya mate, you did none of us proud.

You're not joking are you ?

I got lost a bit with this..... were you trying to say there were people you know who frequent this forum that were on that the afore mentioned ride ?

That would have been a pretty awful trip home..... would have been hard for me to keep my mouth shut, even harder see ing what you saw, given how hard you probably work on this stuff.

  3. 😠 Well, I think its time that stupidity got rewarded with IDs plastered out in publicity land....😠 😠

Dont hold back dear buddy, if you know them, lets do a list and circulate....

dorks , dweebs and dopes can do what they like to help remove themselves from the gene pool, but when their antics tar everyone else, and I mean everyone...its end of fun time...

We have a few good mates in blue who can happily add some "persons of interest" to a list or two...but more so...the "stupid" list would be very welcome by a.b'ers and the "dorks of punt" in future might actually influence their brethren to want to live long enough to prefer a quiet pint than the blunt end of a prime mover or at least the punt in the date they are due!!

you did good keeping your 😎 cool😎 .....never get 😠 mad😠 ...just get even 😉 !!

  4. The strangest thing is, dickwads like those apparently do not frequent these fora...

Yeah, well I could post this to a few corners of the internerd where they lurk. Or last night I could of nipped into NSC, after fueling up with a gyro from Lambs, and then start a blue. But impulse control won out. 🙄

  6. CF has 116,566 members, and 6 degrees is more like 3.8degrees...wouldnt take long (...ummmmm....won't take long) for them and other dork/dopes to become aware of the wide disdain and move to change their ways...

be patient...we all have a lot of work to do, change even for just some will be infectious to get the die hards thinking...if they do it soon enough they may even stop their own dissappearance from the gene pool sooner rather than later!

Na, they'd just wear it as a badge of honour.

The following is of course - purely alleged at this stage.

Speaking of close calls. Sydney Critical Mass turned nasty last night after a taxi decided the fastest way past a group of cyclists was to charge through them. Some cyclists hit, inlcuding me. Some cyclists chased him down after a fairly wild chase through the inner city - driver got out made threats then attempted to run cyclists down. Police turn up and now some of the cyclists may be charged with offences despite numerous witnesses against cabbie.

Fcuking cops are idiots. Or perhaps they just learned from a magistrate that it is now ok to run over cyclists if they annoy you.

    Bloody law is a disgrace.

not if they are trying to wear a prime mover...'cos probability is the more they do it the closer they get to that end...

hmmmm...cabbie maybe one of the Hun's paid for plants, or even some rare individual who even buys the rag and is "incited" , doubt if he knew what an SMH was let alone ever got to read one.......watch the for the Hun's noises this week...see what they have to say about the incident...

doubt if the bike blues will charge any riders..they will make a noise like "tell me why you are blocking this road? "..if you linger at a cork too long...but unless the riders biffed the cabbie after the event they should be ok...

sounds like the cabbie was looking for a good time 🙂

    There weren't any bike cops.

The cops that showed were in a car.

The cops don't even bother to turn up anymore on CM rides as there is usually nothing that even resembles an incident.
