I just wanted to introduce myself. I am from Saskatchewan, Canada and I
am a recently new runner; I've only been at it for about three months. If
anyone has any tips for a beginner, I'd love to read them.
I've downloaded a .pdf of Pirie's book that was mentioned a few posts
back, and I've saved those FAQs and also the beginner tips. I'll be
following this group closely, I think. One of your posters cracks me up.
So full of indignation but yet can't spell.......

Hi Elaine,
Never give up. Sticking with it is far better than going hard and quitting
soon after you've begun. Discipline! :-)
Watch out for the bush. You're in the prairies, I know, but joggers get
killed in AB (bears, and black ones at that), just for being in the wrong
place at the wrong time.

"It's not the critic who counts. Not the man who points out where the
strong man stumbled or where the doer of great deeds could have done them
better. The credit belongs to the man who is in the arena. Whose face is
marred by dust and sweat and blood. Who strives valiantly, who errs and
comes up short again and again. And who, while daring greatly, spends
himself in a worthy cause so that his place may not be among those cold and
timid souls who know neither victory nor defeat."
