Day off tomorrow.. as per my other post I'm going to take a look at my old bike.
I'm assuming new tubes/tyres are a fair bet after five years in the shed.. whilst any bike shop will sell these, any suggestions on good bike shops in the midlands (stafford/derby/birmingham/coventry) worth a visit for a look around?

C. H Smith in Leamington spa is very good. Still got wheels I bought from there which havn't needed truing since!
Mike Vaughn in Kenilworth is also good but a bit more folklore goes on there.

Mercian in Derby. But then you might want a new bike :-)
Peter,
Where abouts in Derby - I thought I might chuck my bike in the boot and nip to leisure lakes and see what they think so far as servicing.. the only bike shop I know of at Derby is the one that's been there for years and years that you drive past on the left if you come down the A38 to the "mcdonalds in an old pub" island and go right, eventually it joins up with the main road to nottingham.

Mercian are just about at the junction of the A6 from Loughborough / Shardlow with the Southern part of the Derby outer ring road(A5111). Planty of parking in the area. Alan.

Stafford Road Walsall suit you? That's where Russels, the shop where I bought all my bike bits in the 1960s is still going. Now the shop is run by the granddaughter of the owner of my day. It's a bit pokey, just like 40 years ago, but the cycling pedigree is superb!
Only downside -- no hint of any 'bents in there :-(

That's Samways.
Mercian are in Alvaston. Follow A6 signs out of town and they are on the left just after the roundabout at the bottom of Raynesway.

Any suggestions for other places worth a visit if I were to head to maclaines in Wolverhampton?
