Yesterday's good driver awards go to (1) the driver who saw Lotte and I
approaching a parked car and dropped back to give us plenty of room to
go around it (probably a cyclist driving) and (2) the truck driver in
the slip lane who saw me coming down Sherwood Rd and just sat back and
waited until I was gone... waved as I went past etc. Both these drivers
got big thumbs up from a happy cyclist and I wish I had a little sticker
to give them "a cyclist gave me this sticker because I'm an intelligent
driver"
An encouragement award goes out to all the drivers who missed their
"gaps" in the traffic (turning right from side streets out onto the main
road) because they waited for the cyclists to pass. Thanks, we
appreciate your brains 🙂
The bad driver awards go to all the drivers at uni who do stupid [censored]
trying ot overtake us. We were cruising around uni at about 30km/h,
maybe about 29.7 km/h? They veer all over the road and try to drive us
into the parked cars, etc. They inspired me to yell at the top of my
lungs, "Why are people trying to overtake me when the speed limit is
thirty f$%king kilometers per hour?!" That made Lotte pretty happy and
also amused some runners. I hope Lottie didn't tell Paulie or I might be
in trouble.
Yes, Lotte decided to get some secret training in and, seeing as Abby
left early, I joined her. So I went home the long way and oh my golly
gosh it's flat! It's so flat I thought it was downhill most of the way,
even though I had a headwind or cross-headwind! There's 2 or 3 bumps,
and a few sets of traffic lights, and the rest is fast! Except for the
little bit at Sunnybank where I went down the wrong street and ended up
on a no through road, and decided that the best way to find out if a
path went through the park at the bottom (at least I thought there was a
park there...) was to fly down the little hill rather than get off my
bike and look at a map... the path was there but pitch black so I was
moving at a crawl and still managed to pick up a stick in the spokes but
I got home safe and sound!
