Looks good to me, yeah that stem has gotta go but the frame is decent, everything looks like it's in good shape, the bar end shifters are definitely retro cool.

You'll probably want new tires and tubes and likely a new chain if not cassette depending on the maintenance the bike has seen recently.

Assuming it fits you it should be a nice ride without a lot of work.

Best part is it is exactly my size 54cm. I always rode a 54/55cm when I rode back in the late 80's early 90's. I tried a friends 57cm Bianchi and it was way too big. I just bought a new 2011 Trek 7100 Hybrid last week, but could not resist the 2120, and for $200, no complaints. I will most likely bring it to my local Trek shop across the street and have a total tune up done($150). Or since I always did my own maintenance, I may just redo everything myself. Would a 1994 be a casette or freewheel??? I'll probably go with a quill degree adjustable stem.

Nice bike for $200. It is probably cassette, but you will want to double check because 1994 was when most manufacturers were changing over from freewheel to cassette. I'm kind of into vintage bikes and I think your stem is just fine[IMG]/img/vbsmilies/smilies/rolleyes.gif[/IMG].

If the helmet is over 5 years old, toss it and get a new one. The recommended life of a helmet is 5 years because after that, the styrofoam begins to break down and loses its protective properties.

Yeah the helmet is questionable. I have a new one I just bought 3 months ago. I will see if there is some sort of mark on it with a date of some type. If it's old, I'll chuck it.

I'll try to work with the stem, definitely lowering it...

There should be a sticker in it that tells the date it was manufactured, however, they tend to fade over time too. I have a helmet that will need to be replaced next month and the sticker is unreadable now.

Found out the bikes history since new.

The bike is 100% completely original down to the trek ISO tech tires... The original owner bought the bike 7/1994 brand new, and put exactly 123.8 miles on it since 1994. No kidding. The computer was installed the day of purchase. In the original owners manual were dates and miles ridden each time. The owner rode it 7 times, and has had it stored in his air conditioned home(not in the garage) since day 1. 5 months after purchase he was injured(back injury) and was never rode it again. The bikes(he and his wife had a matching set of these, a 54cm, and a 50cm) were stored for the last 16 years unused. Last May he brought them into Trek and had a full regrease of the BB, hubs, etc. Because they were stored for so long he had that done. Figuring he was going to get $500 or more per bike on Ebay he spent $150 on each bike getting them completely tuned up. I wanted to ask him why he didn't replace the tires(they are starting to show hardening of the rubber) but left it alone, why complain about a bike that was preserved like this, and for what I paid I WILL BUY TIRES!!!! I replaced the bar tape, bought new brake pads(16 year old pads, time for new ones), oiled the still new looking chain and cassette, and ordered a set of new tires. Unbelievable... I don't care what the age of the bike is, there is (1)- 1/4" scratch on the whole bike! It is truly like it came out of the LBS yesterday new. Now with my 2011 Trek 7100, and this one it's down to choosing which one to ride???

Well here is my 1994 Trek 2120 touring edition. New tires coming, I replaced the tape, took off the purple cages, and the pump holder. Waxed it... Can't wait to ride this baby!!!!

That's really nice. I remember looking at that bike in the Trek catalog when I was lusting after a road bike in 1994. Enjoy!
