Depends on what part of north wales you're going to. If you're heading for
Rhinogs or Cader, or you like a good country drive, then that would be your
best bet. But...
The further south you go, the worse the roads tend to get (or rather, you
have to travel on single carriageway, bendy roads, stuck behind a tractor
for longer, like the a470).
If you're going to Ogwen area, or nearby, then i'd imagine that the A55 is
your best bet timewise, though it seems like much further. (Imagine if you
go via Welshpool, i know it's another 90mins to Caernarfon on a good day.
Takes about an hour to go from Queensferry (english border) to Ogwen, mabye
a bit longer. )
Or get a train to Betws Y Coed! ;-)
