I'm a lifelong liberal Democrat, and I agree, too. My political point
of view hasn't been well-represented in recent years. Whatever happened
to Bill Bradley? I remember liking him and then there was some scandal
or other and he dropped out of politics.

Or Mario Cuomo? I'd vote for either man for president.

But I don't think Howard Dean is what we're looking for - there's a
difference between "outspoken" and "loud."

difference between "outspoken" and "loud."

I would say the days of ³liberal Democrats² as a force in politics is
long gone, or at least gone for the foreseeable future. If I was going
to support a candidate from either party, it would be a conservative Dem
or centrist type Republican, though I can¹t support the major positions
of either party right now. If I was to be forced to call myself
something in terms of political parties, I guess it would be
Libertarian, but they have ³issues² too. Don¹t think Bradley left under
any scandals, he simply didn¹t have the support to move forward and
dropped from the race. Perhaps you are thinking of Heart?

Sorry it doesn't work that way, Larry. A reasoned discussion of the
issues, and reasoned thinking about them, doesn't depend on partisan
politics from either side of the aisle. When it's all said and done,
philosophies and political parties don't govern, at least I hope they
don't. Responsible, considered individual who get elected make
decisions on the issues as they come up, and that's the way it ought to
be. It would be nice if more responsible, considered individuals went
into politics, IMHO.

I hold little respect in a political discussion for anyone from either
side of the aisle who engages in name-calling and savior-pronouncing
("Dean ... is exactly what we need"😉 No one person is "exactly" what we
need, that's why our government is structured the way it is.

punch you" Lazio. I was so happy and it was not because she won. I
was happy because I knew I'd get to enjoy listening to Limbaugh and
Hannity wail in horror. I look forward to something similar in '08.

Exactly. It's all just about the same. All politicians suck. (The rare
exception proves the rule.) So, the best I can hope for is bitter,
contentious, campaigning.
