Next time, try these tips:
1) a decent chamois to pad your rear end.
2) chamois creme to keep the chaffing down. (I prefer DZ Nuts.)Once your butt is comfy, its all about figuring out how to fuel and hydrate your muscles. Each person is a little different. I find that I need to take in about 30-40 grams of carbohydrates per hour to maintain my energy. And you should drink 1-2 bottles of water per hour. Great going for your first run. That is exactly the time of my first half-century.
TYVM. Now the 30 mile rides seem nice and easy going. of course I am not taking a full hilly route. the route that I take is a nice steady climb that you really don't notice. But I figure that a steady up hill training is the best. this way it not only builds the muscles, but also allows me to build up the endurance. I just cant wait, by new Bike will be here in 2 weeks. (The Specialized Allez that I posted about in a different thread) That should kick up my overall time. But i just hope I can get out b4 the snow starts flying.
As far as the soreness. I think it is just the positioning on the bike. My current off the shelf Schwinn may be the wrong size I find that if I sit back off the saddle a little bit I will not get the tailbone soreness. But when i get fitted i will let them know about that soreness Also how I get a little numbness in my right pinky finger, but I think that is just the way I grip the Mountain bike Bars.
