I climbed Beinn nan Oighreag and Meall Ghaordaidh by almost the same route
earlier this year, but the opposite way round. Despite what many people had
wrote about Meall Ghaordaidh being boring, I found this a great little
adventure trip as Meall Ghaordaidh had large ammounts of snow on the
descent.

I had parked at NN 538 353, because I wanted to see the waterfall, however,
it's behind a high fence ;-( The path along the south and west side of
Creag an Fhithich was soggy and rough. At approx NN540 381, there was a lot
of small hillocks to negotiate before reaching the south ridge of Beinn nan
Oighreag. As you mentioned the summit is not obvious and after the GPS came
out to confirm, I headed due west, staight over the glen and up a steep
slope towards point 815.

Large snow fields were on Meall Ghaordaidh, as I got higher, cloud and wind
started to bite. Had I been with someone I would of certainly slid down the
east side as it was very tempting with a long snowy run down a few hundred
metres.

I've certainly been to much more boring Munros and Marilyns then this. My
trip took just over 6 hours.

The east ridge of MG would be quite interesting if it wasn't for the
low cloud. Probably some good views from that ridge.

I had thought about starting further east, which was my starting point
on my last visit, but I didn't see the benefit of adding extra distance
and I'm glad I didn't as the last hour or so was in the dark.

Nice panorama - and a good game - at least 90% of the Munros I picked out
were correct ;-)

I even got a few Corbetts!
